As a Technology Hardware & Systems Engineer / Energy Systems Hardware Engineer at Wattstor, you will be at the forefront of designing, specifying, testing, and integrating innovative hardware solutions for advanced energy systems. This role involves working closely with the Technology Team, embedded software developers, product team, delivery team and engineering stakeholders to develop and integrate state-of-the-art technologies into customer-specific energy solutions.
You will focus on the system-level design and specification of key components, including battery inverters, PV inverters, batteries, DC/DC converters, control systems and AC/DC-coupled architectures within integrated energy systems. You will play an important role in ensuring smooth hardware-software integration, robust system performance, safety and reliable operation across various customer deployments.
You will be in direct contact with suppliers and technology partners to evaluate hardware platforms, review technical documentation, clarify integration requirements and troubleshoot ongoing issues.
This is not a pure PCB design role. It is a hands-on, cross-functional engineering position for someone who enjoys working across hardware, system architecture, supplier evaluation, testing, documentation, and deployment support, while connecting technical details with real-world customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development: Design, specify and optimize hardware components such as batteries, converters, inverters and associated control systems.
System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware solutions into customer-specific energy systems, ensuring compatibility with Wattstor’s EMS and software platforms.
Prototyping & Testing: Prepare test setups, conduct thorough testing, and implement quality control processes to validate performance, safety, and reliability of hardware and integrated energy systems.
Research & Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies, industry standards, and competitive products to inform continuous hardware innovation and drive Wattstor’s technological edge.
Technical Documentation: Produce detailed design specifications, test reports, and integration guidelines for internal and external stakeholders.
Supplier documentation: Ability to review and challenge supplier technical documentation, datasheets, manuals, and integration requirements.
Collaboration: Work closely with software developers and other technical engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration, optimizing overall system functionality.
Deployment Support: Participate in on-site deployments and provide technical expertise during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of hardware solutions.
